Oh yes, she did indeed deserve better! I love that she get to go with the Doctor, if only briefly!
When I feel charitable I think that her death served a purpose; that it proved that Missy is just as evil as her previous regenerations. A tragedy is only a real tragedy when it happens to someone who you can't bear that it happens to.
When I feel less positive I think that this was Moffat showing what he think of fans- first creating the ultimate one and then giving her a quick but brutal disposal. :/
