• Ficathon opens for posting - Sat 13 Apr 2019

How to sign up
(Sign-ups open Sat 16 Mar 2019 - Fri 12th April)

1. Choose a date from the below list. Try to go for empty dates, if you can, so we get a good spread across the month, but two or three people can claim the same date.
   
2. If you would like to write from a prompt, choose one from the Prompt Post. (Only one claim per prompt if possible, please). You do not have to claim a prompt to play.
   
3. Comment to this post with your date, username (for wherever you're planning to post the fic), the prompt you've chosen and/or the minor character(s) you're going to be focusing on.
   
4. Congratulations! You're signed up!
   

You can sign up for up to two fics initially - simply choose a second date/prompt etc., and repeat the process. (If you would like to write even more, you can claim a third once you have posted your first fic & so on.)



Posting
(Posting: Sat 13th April – Sat 11th May)

• You must either post the fic (under a cut) to the comm, or link back to it from wherever you choose to post it. (There is a collection on AO3.)
  
• Min. word count 500 words. (No maximum). It's a low pressure fest, but please do ensure your fics are correctly formatted and spell-checked, and beta-ed if needed.
  
• You are welcome to use your fic to double up for another challenge (e.g. bingos, prompt tables etc.), but do check that's okay with the other challenge's rules.
  
• You MUST use a heading with rating, word count, any relevant warnings and all fics must be under a cut if posted directly to the comm.
  
• You will need to join the comm to post. (If you're not on DW, please contact the mod to arrange to make the link post to the comm for you.)
  
• Please post on the date claimed or let the mod know if you won't be able to manage it. (Don't worry - rearranging a date shouldn't be a problem and there's no penalty for having to drop out. Real life eats us all at times.)
  

I will post a masterlist once the fest is over.

There's further (non DW) contact info and a FAQ at the Introduction & Info post and you can sign up via those methods or by anon-commenting if you don't have an DW account. There is also a banner post for pimping purposes - please promote the fest wherever appropriate.

I'm extremely sorry, but I'm not going to be able to post my fic today as scheduled. I *started* it, after a great deal of procrastination, but had a couple of rethinks along the way and might end up rewriting the whole thing. I'm not sure at this point how long that's going to take. I've been doing a bit of work on my other WIP these past couple of days, and hoping that if I look at it again after a break I'll be able to see what needs to be done. Sorry again; I hate missing deadlines, and I feel like I've let down you and thisbluespirit. I'll try my best to get it finished and posted sooner rather than later.

No worries at all! I hope that when you do get to it, you will post it for us to enjoy. Personally, I would love minor characters stories all year round. :)

Sorry I've taken forever to sign up, I was trying to decide which prompt to choose. But hopefully I can still finish a story...

I'm going to try for May 9th, with the prompt "Lady Jennifer and Lt Carstairs, post-The War Games."

And just as a note, you don't have to use one of the given prompts. You can write whatever you want, as long as the focus of the story is on the minor (non-Doctor, non-companion) character. :)

Yeah, I figured! I like using prompts, they help me pick a starting point for the story. It was just a question of which character(s) I wanted to write about, which was partly dependent on how my rewatching was going. :-) After finishing my War Games rewatch, though, I decided I totally wanted to give this prompt ago :-) (I'm still thinking about writing a story about Fariah, too, but that's only if I have time to rewatch The Enemy of the World before the fest ends, since it's been some time and I want to refresh my memory first.)

Hey, I'm terribly sorry, but I'm not managing to post on this date after all. My creativity just dried up on the story I was going to write, and I can't get it done. I have another idea that I might be able to write before the fest ends, but I can't promise anything - and I don't know if it's all right to post on the same day as another user, anyway, should I have something to post on Saturday.

Sorry about this. My health's been unreliable this year, which makes it harder with everything, though I'd really like to post something for this fest, especially as I was really looking forward to it earlier...

You are welcome to post on Saturday, and if you can't, we would still love to see your story (or stories) whenever you finish them. This fest is not about deadlines and stress - we just want to celebrate DW characters, whenever we can. :)
